First steel has been cut for Irish Ferries’ new cruise ferry

May 3, 2017 by the News Team

Iirish Ferries logoThe first steel has been cut for Irish Ferries’ new €144 million cruise ferry. The new ferry is being built in Germany and is scheduled for delivery in mid 2018. When it comes into service, the ship will accommodate up to 1,885 passengers and crew, with 435 cabins and a dedicated car deck as well as capacity for freight.

“This first steel cutting is more than symbolic and starts the practical construction of our new build. This investment underpins the confidence the Group has in both the freight and passenger tourism markets between Ireland, Britain and France”, said Eamonn Rothwell, chief executive of Irish Continental Group plc, the parent company of Irish Ferries.
